Stand-On Mowers

Power Equipment
One of the best things about selfserve frozen yogurt places are those little white sample cups. They exist just so you can try out a new flavor before you commit to a w hole cupful. Will you really like Salted Caramel, or will it be too sweet? One taste will tell you.   More

What's New in Mowers

Power Equipment
The very competitive commercial mower industry just had its equivalent of Detroit’s Auto Show. It’s called GIE+EXPO, and it’s held every October in Louisville, Kentucky. It’s where all the major—and minor— players in the mower game show off their latests-and-greatests, and make important announcements.   More

Buy? Lease? or Rent?

Business Articles
With the current labor shortage in our industry, landscape contractors have had to be creative and find ways to do more with fewer people. Demi Fortuna: Waterscaper of the Year 2014

Waterscapes
Demi Fortuna's life was exciting even before landing in his current position as director of product information with Atlantic Water Gardens. Stony Brook, New York has always been home to Fortuna. That's where he was raised, went to school, and attended college. "I don't think people realize how lovely it is here," he says. Fortuna’s mother was an assistant professor at the State University of New York (SUNY), Stony Brook. She seems to have had a bit of wanderlust. She loved to travel, and Demi and his younger brother got the chance to see the world. His mother’s salary as an assistant professor was enough to cover most of the expenses, but he and his brother helped pay their own way.   More

Battery-Powered Mowers...Not So Crazy After All

Eco-Green Sustainable Landscapes
“IT’S ALIVE! IT’S ALIVE!” THE DOCTOR yells in the classic film, Frankenstein, as he revives his monster from the dead. Luckily, that’s just fiction. However, in real life, you can use electricity, too. But hopefully you’ll use it in a more responsible (and profitable) manner than the doctor.   More

Is Mowing Your Main Revenue Stream?

Landscape Maintenance
That’s the story for so many people in the green industry. As soon as they were tall enough and strong enough to push a mower, many budding landscape contractors began by cutting lawns for neighbors, to earn extra money after school and in the summer..   More

MOWER MAINTENANCE

Landscape Maintenance
There’s an old adage that says, “Take care of the little things, and the big things will take care of themselves.” This may seem like a strange way to open a story about maintaining commercial zero-turn mowers; after all, they’re hardly “little things,” either in size or in cost.   More

Which is Your Alternative Fuel Choice?

Landscape Maintenance
Have you noticed how expensive fuel costs are these days? Of course you have. No matter where you live in the country, the price for the lowest octane unleaded gasoline is well over $3.00 per gallon; for premium grades, it’s even higher. And in many places, diesel fuel prices are about the same as gasoline.   More
