An irrigation system is made up from component parts. Here are a few new, and some established, products for your perusal.
Irrigation Controler
Irritrol Systems has expanded its JR MAX Series controller line to include four-, six- and eight-station indoor and outdoor models. With three independent programs and start-time stacking, it provides the convenience of three controllers in one. Self-guided programming prompts the user through irrigation schedules, and a program review allows for quick programming verification and operation review.
Multiple watering day options provide the flexibility to meet municipal water restrictions and includes a 365-day calendar for true odd/even date watering, a seven-day calendar or up to 14-day intervals. A looping function ensures continuous moisture when required, while “arm chair” programming allows the controller to be programmed without AC power.
The unit also features built-in rain delay up to seven days, real-time battery backup that maintains accurate time, sensor terminals for connection to a rain sensor and an on-board coin battery that maintains program information for up to five years.

Flow Meters
With its all-digital design, the Flo-Wise Rotor-X and Ag-Rotor flow meter systems provide water management reliability and verifiable accuracy ( 2% of reading). Each self-contained unit is a flow indicator displaying the current flow, as well as a totalizer recording total flow over a period of time.
The flow meters are easy to install for either field or remote mount, and are suitable for synchronization of chemigation injection with irrigation systems. The sensor can be used in conjunction with pivot panels compatible with pulse signals. The Rotor-X model is designed for pipes with diameters from 1/2" to 8"; the Ag-Rotor model is designed for 6" and larger diameter pipes.

22.5 Degree Elbow
From swimming pools to golf greens, the LASCO Fittings 22? degree elbow offers a solution for many common installation problems. When a project requires the piping to follow the perimeter contours, or two-inch pipe is just too stiff to make those tight bends, the injection-molded Schedule 40 fitting has a slight bend, making these types of installations easier and less troublesome.

2005 Hunter Catalog
The expanded 2005 Hunter Industries irrigation products catalog is now available. It features the company’s complete line of rotors, sprays, valves, controllers, and central systems, along with up-to-date product data with performance charts, operating specifications and installation tips.
An expanded technical section helps contractors plan an efficient irrigation system with charts and graphs on precipitation rates, conversion factors, slope equivalents, height of spray, friction loss, wire sizing, pressure loss, and more. The spiral-bound reference book is free to industry professionals.

Underground Piping Installer
Designed for use with a four-wheel drive vehicle, Hitch-N-Ditch allows users to install underground piping while driving their vehicle. The unit is comprised of two-pieces; both made from single unit molds to add strength for use in most types of soil composition.
Simply attach the tool to your vehicle, dig a small hole to the desired depth, attach the piping and drive. It installs piping up to 2 inches in diameter in a straight line and also allows for gradual turns. The piping is installed and covered as you drive. Turf repairs itself in a matter of days, compared to weeks of recovery required for conventional trenching.

Micro Irrigation Container
Developed for container-grown plants and trees, the Container Tender is a micro- irrigation product that combines a plastic weed barrier with precise low-flow drip irrigation delivered evenly around the container. In university-conducted comparison tests with another irrigation product, trees of the same size with similar root systems were grown using 88% less water. Additionally, no hand weeding or herbicides were required. They are made of materials that can be certified organic, and are 100% recyclable after the product’s four-year estimated life.

Long Throw Rotor
The 115-E Rotor is the newest addition to Rain Bird’s commercial line of rotors. With its serviceable design, replaceable parts and easy adjustment capabilities, the 115-E is designed for larger irrigation systems with sizable spacing. Arc adjustments can be made from the top of the rotor head, requiring only a screwdriver.
Its large distribution range requires fewer heads and less trenching. With a radius throw from 85 to 115 feet, the rotor offers a 30- to 360-degree operation; the water-lubricated, heavy-duty, replaceable gear-drive ensures reliable rotation. It also comes with a settable stator that accommodates high-speed rotations, providing quick cooling and cleaning of synthetic turf or rapid dust control applications.

T00l-less Saddle Tees
The makers of the KwikTap are hoping to change the way people think about tool-less saddle tees. Unlike some tool-less taps for polyethylene pipe with latching mechanisms and plug type screws, the device features an over-the-thread-cap and ratchet lock for added strength and security. The patented design makes it faster to install than inserts with worm screw or pinch clamps, along with providing less flow restriction than standard inserts.
Electronic Valve Controller
The Watts ACV Autobox is an electronic valve controller for pilot-operated control valves that is ideal for water loss control, water conservation, level control and on/off applications. It allows for the remote operation, management and monitoring of valves through the Internet, and can be programmed to automatically operate a valve based on the specific needs of an application.
The unit operates on internal batteries, features low energy consumption and communicates using either the “Watts Control Network" or several other means of communication via a built-in GPRS modem. A built-in data logger records flow, inlet pressure, outlet pressure, level and other statistics.

Scan-away Filter
The Scanaway Filter and Retrofit Assembly Kit applies Amiad’s proprietary “suction scanner” cleaning technology, normally found on its high-end, automatic filters, to a manual filter, creating a semi-automatic filter for irrigation and other applications at a fraction of the cost. Available in 2” – 14” steel and 2” or 3” plastic, it can handle flows up to 4400gpm, and uses screens down to 50 microns.

French Drain Pipe
The filter-free French angle slotted pipe is designed to flush movable soil particles through angled slots, then along the bottom of the pipe to an exhaust point. By limiting soil compaction, the pipe helps improve long-term sub-surface water movement. It also eliminates stoppage that may occur with systems using filter cloth.

TR Series Rotors
Toro has introduced the TR Series, an array of rotors that will cover a 25’ to 77’ area. They enable the user to fine-tune spray trajectory, have an ease of adjustment, and can shut off water flow for maintenance convenience.
The TR50 ?” rotor easily adjusts from 30 degrees to 360 degrees and covers a 30’ to 50’ radius. Additionally, the TR50XT includes the company’s patented X-Flow shutoff device and TruJectory adjustment, which allows for a 5 degree to 25 degree adjustment, without changing out nozzles. The TR70XT is a 1” rotor with a 42’ to 77’ radius and is ideal for use in applications such as parks or sports fields.

Handheld Digital Assistant
Designed specifically for the irrigation industry, Rain Bird Pro software utilizes handheld devices or Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) to electronically transmit crew schedules, materials used and work orders to the office. The unit allows for signature capture capability, and the ability to change orders while in the field.
Version 6.0 also includes enhancements in the office scheduling screen, as well as on the PDA. Information can now be customized to allow users to attach documents to a customer’s history, and to enter contact relationships. Rain Bird Pro software can be purchased or subscribed to for a monthly or annual subscription fee.

MP Rotator
Designed for turf and landscape professionals, the MP Rotator is an efficient, water-saving sprinkler that installs onto any popular plastic spray head body. Covering an 8’ to 30’ range, it achieves high-uniformity performance with patented, multi-trajectory, rotating stream technology that maintains a matched precipitation rate even after arc and radius adjustment.
This technology eliminates the rotor nozzle tree, as well as the labor associated with rotor nozzle installation.

EverSpin Sprinkler Bearing
The SuperNet micro-sprinklers now feature the EverSpin bearing, constructed with a layer of durable, sapphire material. Placed at the point where the swivel pin meets the bearings surface wear-point, the sapphire layer is designed to protect this critical area from friction and wear.
The sapphire material also helps keep the swivel centered during operation and improves start-up. The EverSpin bearing is now a standard feature on all SuperNet and SuperNet Jr. micro-sprinklers. Retrofitting existing sprinklers is simple: just insert, twist and lock into place. No tools are required.
