Unlicensed Contractors Sentenced

Two unlicensed landscape contractors in Ventura County, California, were convicted and sentenced to county jail for performing construction on the landscapes of two county residences. In addition, each was ordered to pay restitution to the homeowners of the properties they had worked on.

One man was sentenced to 30 days in county jail and ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution to the homeowner who hired him to build a retaining wall and install an irrigation drainage system.

The other was sentenced to 10 days in county and ordered to pay $15,791 in restitution for work he performed on the landscape, including the construction of a concrete driveway and concrete decking around a swimming pool.

Both men were also ordered to pay a $100 fine to the State Restitution Fund and placed on three years of probation.
