Hedge Trimmer Touches Power Line

| Latest News

A landscape contractor in Portland, Oregon, sent one of his crew to trim some hedges on a client’s property. “He was on a ladder using a pole with a saw attached to one end,” said Lt. Rich Chatman, a spokesman for the local Fire Bureau.

The hedge trimmer touched a residential distribution line carrying power down the street. The power line was carrying 7,000 volts. “The man was killed instantly,” said Chatman.

“The hedge was about 20 feet tall,” Chatman said. The man’s name will be released at a later date.
