Mowing Bids Open to Scrutiny
| Latest NewsNine different sealed bids for various mowing projects in southern Maine have been opened, and reveal a fascinating disparity in how various landscape contracting companies value the same projects.
The projects in Harrison, Maine -- located at one end of Long Lake -- included roadside mowing, mowing cemeteries, taking care of a township athletic field, and maintaining parks and lakeside beaches.
Bids on the same cemetery mowing project, for example, ranged from a low of $1,700 to a high of $10,800.
