Faced with some business challenges, Michael Mackoul, the owner of TEAMscapes, Johns Creek, Georgia, revamped his company’s business plan to target entire neighborhoods rather than individual homes.
The 21-year industry veteran insists that a one-company approach to neighborhood landscape work will result in increased property values and an overall reduction in fuel consumption. He hopes this new model for doing business will help TEAMscapes make up the work lost to a sputtering economy.
“Traditionally, every homeowner gets their own landscape company,” said Mackoul. “Because of this, what happens is a lot of companies go into the same neighborhood—lots of traffic goes in there.” According to Mackoul, every company has its own style, which leads to an inconsistent neighborhood look. He hopes wealthy neighborhoods like the ones in Johns Creek will see the benefit to contracting one business for an entire street.
“Landscaping is the first impression of the neighborhood,” said Mackoul. “We can make that impression look good.”
