No Licenses for Landscape Architects

| Latest News

Anyone will be able to print business cards and call himself a landscape architect, if a bill expected to pass the New Hampshire House of Representatives becomes law. The bill deregulates a list of professions.  It specifically includes landscape architects.

Under the bill’s provisions, landscape architects will require neither licenses nor specific education.

The fate of the bill in the state Senate is uncertain, but the Republicans hold a large majority in that chamber. The Democratic governor, John Lynch, has also not indicated if he would sign or veto the bill.

If the online source actually took to the time to properly write this article they would have included information to their subscribers that might allow for an effective action. It lacks a source (credable or not) as well as proof (such as what bill #) and a timeline of status (in committe, past committe and moving forward to house &senate or finally old news the vote could already have taken place.) A brief search would indicate the article should have mentioned it was HB 446-FN and according to teh league of women voters website it has not been acted upon, but could be at teh next (January 4th) session.

Good.  Until landscape architects get out in the field and actually learn something about the material they are calling for; they will continue to know less than the un-architects that are out there doing design/builds.
