St. Andrews Country Club of Boca Raton, Florida, in conjunction the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department, has completed a $1.2 million reclaimed water project on the club’s grounds. The irrigation system will provide reusable, sustainable water to maintain two 18-hole golf courses, 15 tennis courts, and extensive landscaping.
The club's board of governors says that the installation of a reclaimed water system throughout their facility will ensure the availability of water year-round. The renovation will also avoid future problems, should the state implement restrictions on water use due to drought conditions.
They further contend that the club’s landscape will benefit from using reclaimed water, since the turf can absorb relatively large amounts of nitrogen and other nutrients often found in recycled water while maintaining a consistent lake level throughout the property.
